These are two sketches I just did for my next drawing. It is a young rabbit designing a carrot space rocket. You can see a glass space helmet sitting on the desk next to him. Out the window behind him is the carrot moon.
I just completed this for a friend's Hair Salon. In Japan, all business have shutters which they close when the shop is closed for the evening or day. It kind of gives the street a ghetto like feel, but there isn't a graffiti problem like there is in the US. Anyway, he wanted to spice up his salon and give a hint to what lies behind the shutter when he is not open. The rabbits might be changed to people. We are thinking at the moment. The final mural will be 14' x 8'
This is a close up of the rabbit mountain from my Moose Waiter drawing. I was really scared to start on the mountain as it was the last thing left to draw. However, it ended up being the easiest part of the drawing. No fretting necessary after all. The carrot forest was also fun to draw. By the way, I draw using a rapidograph pen and color using prismacolor color pencils.
I remade the moose waiter drawing, focusing more on the moose and rabbits meal. I also turned the rabbit cloud into a mountain.
In this color pencil drawing, a family of bears is arriving at the Bear Ramen Shop. The restaurant owner is wearing an apron that says Kumasan Ramen. Kumasan is 'bear' in Japanese. There is also a rabbit bread shop in the lower left hand corner and a rabbit hotel in the tree to the right, and a bird restaurant high in the tree where the branch meets the trunk. This is a close up of the moose waiter from the Rabbit Restaurant drawing I posted earlier. Check out the cup hanging from the antlers. You can see the strokes of the color pencil better in this enlargement. I use Prismacolor color pencils which have a lot of pigment for strong colors. I draw in layers. I use 6 colors just for the wood. First, I lay down a bright Sunburst Yellow 917, then I draw the wood grain using Burnt Ochre 943, then I add Light Umber 943(sometimes Bronze instead), then I start adding shadow with French Grey 70% 1074 and Dark Umbber 947 and then Indego Blue for the darkest Shadow 901.
